Nurturing healthy culture underscored to entertain people

RANGPUR, Oct 30, 2018 (BSS) – Cultural personalities at a function here
have underscored the need for speeding up nurturing of healthy Bengali
culture to entertain the common people in building a more peaceful society.

They put special emphasis on forging unity among the progressive forces to
root out wicked enemies of humanity like extremism, fundamentalism, militancy
and terrorism toward the direction.

The views were expressed at inaugural function of the two-day celebrations
of the golden jubilee anniversary of Bangladesh Udichhi Shilpi Gosthi (BUSG)
and reunion on Monday afternoon on the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the
city.

Former President of Rangpur unit of BUSG Mohammad Afzal as the chief guest
inaugurated the celebrations with hoisting of the national flag and
organisational flag along with the artistes of BUSG amid rendering the
national anthem.

Local leaders, activists and artists of BUSG with socio-cultural, literary
and political personalities, civil society members and elite brought out a
colourful rally on the city streets on the occasion.

Chairman of the golden jubilee celebration and reunion committee Professor
Maloy Kishore Bhattacharya presided over the inaugural function.

Chairman of Rangpur District Council Advocate Chhafia Khanom, Director of
Rangpur Group Ashraful Alam Al Amin, Vice-president of BUSG’s central
committee Professor Dr Swasswato Bhattacharyya, its founding President for
Rangpur unit Enamul Hafiz Bachchu and former President Professor Abdul Jalil,
cultural personalities Dr Mofizul Islam Mantu, Biplob Prasad, Sushitol
Bhattacharya and Kafi Sarker, among others, addressed.

The speakers put importance on enhanced nurturing of cultural activities
and absolute unity among the secular forces as the fearful complexion of
fundamentalism is visible threatening the whole humanity in the globe.

They urged the pro-liberation forces for working unitedly to build a
secular Bangladesh free from fundamentalism, militancy, extremism and
terrorism for establishing core spirit of the War of Liberation.

Mohammad Afzal stressed on nurturing healthy Bengali culture to entertain
the common people and save the young generations from the clutches of vested
quarters involved with tempting the youths toward militancy, terrorism and
extremism.

In the evening, local artists of BUSG recited poems, rendered popular
songs and dances and staged drama entertaining tens hundreds of audience of
all ages on the Central Shaheed Minar premises.
