LEATHER-INDUSTRY-PARK (with picture)
Leather industrial estate in Rajshahi soon
RAJSHAHI, Oct 30, 2018 (BSS) – Leather industrial estate will be
established here aims at improving socio-economic condition of the region
through flourishing the leather sector.
A site of 100 acres of land has already been selected at Harian and
Belpukur areas for the purpose. Regional office of Bangladesh Small and
Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) is working in this regard.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton visited the site
yesterday. President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md
Muniruzzaman, BSCIC Regional Director Engineer Ajharul Islam and its Deputy
General Manager Tamanna Rahman and Estate Officer Waesh Kurni accompanied the
mayor during the visit.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Liton hoped that the region’s economic flow
will be enhanced coupled with generating employment opportunities upon
commissioning of the estate.
He assured his all possible cooperation towards speedy implementation of
the project.
Liton said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced that two more leather
industrial estates will be set up in Rajshahi and Chittagong divisions to
flourish the country’s leather sector. She also assured of taking necessary
steps in this regard.
Earlier the premier also urged the foreign investors and buyers to invest
more in Bangladesh’s leather sector and source more leather products from
Bangladesh, Liton added.
