Swedish envoy seeks more global assistance for Rohingyas

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2017 (BSS) – Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh Charlotta Schlyter today urged the international community to provide more financial assistance for the Rohingyas.

She made the call while speaking as chief guest at a daylong event on “Networking and Discussion on Rohingya Crisis” at MHK Biggyan Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU), said a DU press release.

Terming the Rohingya crisis as one of the major challenges for Bangladesh, the ambassador said, the Swedish government is very much concerned about this issue.

“We will continue our support and cooperation to Bangladesh in this regard”, she added. Sweden Alumni Network in Bangladesh organized this event in cooperation with Swedish Institute (SI).

Former Chairperson of the Department of Chemistry of DU Prof. Dr. Nilufar Nahar presided over the inaugural session while Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz addressed it as the special guest, the release said.

Former Chairman of National Human Rights Commission Prof. Dr. Mizanur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Sadeka Halim, Professors of the Department of International Relations Dr. Delwar Hossain and Dr. Lailufar Yasmin presented papers, the release added.

Head of Sweden Alumni Network in Bangladesh Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shoeb conducted the program.
