20 tonnes mustard seed allotted in Jamalpur-Sherpur
JAMALPUR, Oct 29, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Agriculture Development
Corporation (BADC) allotted 20 tonnes of mustard seed in Jamalpur and Sherpur
district for current Robi season.
According to Seed Marketing, a wing of BADC, 10 tonnes of mustard seed will
be sold among the farmers in the two districts through its 355 registered
dealers under the quality seed distribution programme.
Sources said 500 kilogram of BARRI-14 variety and 6,500 kilogram of
BARRI-9 variety in Jamalpur district while 1,500 kilogram of BARRI-14 variety
and 1,500 kilogram of BARRI-9 variety in Sherpur district were allotted.
On the other hand, 10 tonnes of mustard seed will be disbursed among small
and marginal farmers in an incentive programme in the two districts.
Under the incentive programme 4,500 kilogram of BARRI-14 variety seed
and 2,000 kilogram of BINA-4 variety seed in Jamalpur district and 3,500
kilogram of BARRI-14 variety seed in Sherpur district were allotted.
Deputy Director, Seed Marketing, Md Reazul Islam Tutul said under the
incentive programme we have already handed over mustard seed to the Upazila
Agriculture Offices for distribution among the farmers.
Selling of mustard seed already began. Price of per kilogram mustard seed
of BARRI-14 variety is Tk. 82 and BARRI-9 variety is Tk. 80.
