Overall development of the women folk stressed in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, DEC 20, 2017 (BSS) – Speakers here underscored that the
country could not reach the desired development without the overall
development of the women folk as half of the country’s total population are
women.

They expressed this view at the orientation programme arranged by
Chhinnomul Mohila Samity (SMS) under Ensure Women Rights for Better Society
project with the financial assistance of Human Rights Programme of United
Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

A two-day long orientation for the youth groups held at the hall room
of Chhinnomul Mohila Samity (SMS).

With executive director of SMS Murshidur Rahman Khan in the chair, the
inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by deputy director of
SMS M. Shamsul Alam and coordinator ABM Masudunnabi Lipon.

Deputy Director of Department of Youth Development (DYD) Tofael Ahmed
Khan addressed the concluding session as the chief guest journalist Sarker M.
Shahiduzzaman was present as the special guest.

DD of DYD Tofael Ahmed said the country could not reach the desired
development without the overall development of the women folk as half of the
country’s total population are women.

He also urged the women to get united and raise voices against eve-
teasing, sexual harassment, early marriage and female oppression from their
respective position and to build social movement to realize their rights.

Journalist Sarker M. Shahiduzzaman said women could be turned into
working hands providing them with need base training to build middle income
country by 2021, a vision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A total of 25 youths took part in the orientation in first batch.
