DHAKA, Oct 28, 2018 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Anisul Huq today said transport workers are perhaps observing
countrywide strike without understanding the new road transport act.
“The new law in one hand will come handy in lowering the number of road
mishaps while it will also be helpful for the drivers if they run buses
appropriately. There is no such provision in the act which can leave them
(drivers) in jeopardy without committing any mistakes,” he said.
The law minister said these while talking to newsmen after inaugurating
the second orientation course for newly-joined judges of Women and Children
Repression Prevention Tribunals at Judicial Administration Training Institute
(JATI) here in the capital.
Presided over by JATI Director General Justice Khondker Musa Khaled, the
function was also addressed by Law Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul
Haque.
While replying a question on recent remarks of Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr
Kamal Hossain, the law minister said the Awami League government never
violated constitution, saying, “in spite of this, if I ever have to appear
before court for violating the constitution, I will do that.”
Talking about Digital Security Act, Anisul Huq said, “This act was not
formulated to violate freedom of media, speech or any other form of freedom,
it is only meant to ensure cyber security.”
