School banking conference held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Oct 27, 2018 (BSS)- A school banking conference was held here
today with the main thirst of making the school banking programme more
popular and effective coupled with bolstering the government policy of
spreading the banking services to the mass level for higher financial
inclusion in the region.

Rupali Bank Limited (RBL) organised the conference at Rajshahi College
auditorium in presence of large number of bankers and other stakeholders.

Chaired by Rajshahi Divisional Deputy Managing Director of RBL Jahangir
Alam, the conference was addressed, among others, by Executive Director of
Bangladesh Bank (BB) Fazlur Rahman and Principal of Rajshahi College Prof
Habibur Rahman.

In his remarks, Fazlur Rahman said the school banking system is generating
wide interest among students in creating savings habit to ultimately help
them ensuring financial security in future.

The main objective of the programME was creating students savings
mentality through opening school banking accounts. Now there are about 15
lakh school banking accounts and about Taka 1,400 crore deposited in that
accounts.

Before the conference, a colourful rally was brought out on the city
streets from Alupatty crossing.

Hundreds of school students and officials of all scheduled banks in the
city joined the rally that ended at the conference venue.
