Solo photo exhibition on rivers held at BRUR

RANGPUR, Oct 24, 2018 (BSS) – A day-long photo exhibition on rivers was
held at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) campus in the city on
Tuesday, a press release said today.

The BRUR unit of Riverine People organised the event.

Director and Associate Professor of the Department of Bengali of the
university Tuhin Wadud exhibited his 150 pictures of 150 rivers of Rangpur
region.

The photo exhibition was arranged to focus on condition of the rivers
and make people aware of consequences of extinction of many rivers to save
those for maintaining bio-diversity, ecological and environmental balance.

Vice-chancellor of Begum Rokeya University inaugurated the exhibition
through mobile phone conferencing with secretary general of Riverine People
Sheikh Rokan in the chair.

Chairman of National River Protection Commission (NRPC) Dr Mojibur
Rahman Hawlader attended the function as the chief guest.

The function was moderated by convener of Riverine People and Assistant
Professor Umar Farooque.

Fulltime Member of NRPC Md Alauddin, human rights and environmental
activist Advocate Munir Chowdhury, river researcher Manjur Arif and activist
of Sochetan Nagorik Samaj Mosfeka Razzaque, among others, addressed.

Honorary Member of NRPC Md Moniruzzaman, Programme Director of Oxfam in
Bangladesh MB Akhter, its Policy Advocacy Campaign and Communication Manager
SM Manjur Rashid, Photojournalist Feroz Chowdhury, Assistant Professor of the
Department of Statistics of Kusthia Islami University Altaf Hossain and
Director of Riverine People Mohammad Ezaz were present.

Highly appreciating the initiative of arranging a photo exhibition on
rivers, the NRPC Chairman stressed on taking and implementing sustainable
development projects to protect the rivers, river water and resources.
