ACC sends MLAR to US seeking information over corruption of Joynul
DHAKA, Oct 23, 2018 (BSS) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood today said the commission has sent a Mutual Legal Assistance Request (MLAR) to the US authority seeking information about the former Appellate Division judge Md Joynul Abedin.
“We have sent a Mutual Legal Assistance Request to the US authority concerned through the office of the attorney general as Joynul Abedin is now in the USA,” he told reporters at his office here today.
Mahmood said the commission did not get any information about the issue but there is a progress in the investigation.
The ACC chairman said the investigation officer can summon the former judge for interrogating over his alleged accumulation of illegal wealth. There is allegation of amassing wealth illegally and money laundering against Joynul Abedin.
On July 18 in 2010, the ACC served a notice to the former judge seeking his wealth statements.
