QALAT, Afghanistan, Oct. 23, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – A total of 11 Taliban
militants were killed in own accident explosions in southern Afghanistan’s
province of Zabul, a local official said Tuesday.

The incidents occurred late on Monday in Mizan and neighboring Arghandab
districts, where two groups of Taliban were carrying improvised explosive
devices (IEDs) for conducting attacks against security forces but the IEDs
detonated accidently, causing the casualties, Mohammed Mustafa Mayar, the
provincial police chief, told Xinhua.

Taliban militants and Islamic State (IS) fighters have been using IEDs to
make roadside bombs and landmines for targeting security forces, but the
lethal home-made weapons also inflict casualties on civilians as well as the
militants.

On Sunday, 11 civilians, including seven children, were killed when a
running vehicle ran over an IEC in eastern Nangarhar province.

The Taliban militants fighting government force in the province have not
still commented on the report.
