National Road Safety Day observed in Khulna

KHULNA, Oct 22, 2018(BSS) – The National Road Safety Day was observed in
the city today in befitting manner as different organisations took elaborate
programmes to mark the day.

Bangladesh Road and Transport Association (BRTA) Khulna Circle organised
the programmes in cooperation with Khulna district administration.

The programmes include colourful procession, assemble and discussion. The
programme started around 9:30am with a procession. The rally starting from
collectorate building ended at Shaheed Hadis Park after parading different
streets in the city.

Afterwards, a discussion was held at officers’ club in the city with
deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain in the chair.

Khulna divisional commissioner Lokman Hossain Mia addressed the meeting
as the chief guest.

Police Super SM Shafiullah, Civil Surgeon SM Abdur Razzak, Executive
Engineer of Road and Highways Taposhi Das, deputy police commissioner Saiful
Haque, additional district magistrate Yousuf Ali, deputy director of BRTA
Ziaur Rahman, president of Khulna Press Club Faruk Ahmed, among others,
addressed the event.

Assistant Director of BRTA Md Abul Bashar delivered the welcome speech.

The chief guest said the government has taken mega projects for roads
development.

“Already Dhaka-Chittagong and Mymensingh highway has been upgraded into
four lanes and at least 60 percent work of the Padma Bridge has been
completed, he said.

“The present government have passed Bangladesh Road Transport act at the
parliament for safe road as per demand of the new generation,” he added,
saying everybody should obey traffic rules for their own safety.
