Two die inhaling toxic gas in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Oct 22, 2018 (BSS) – Two workers were killed inhaling toxic
gas in a septic tank of water treatment plant in Madhunaghat area under
Hathazari upazila here today.
The deceased identified as Nazrul Islam, 30, son of Abdur Rob, was an
inhabitant of Patuakhali district while Mohammad Yusuf, 22, son of Al Ameen,
hailed from Kachua upazila of Bagerhat district.
Abdul Karim, inspector of Mudnaghat police outpost, told BSS that the
welding work inside the septic tank had been done before 15-20 days.
As soon as the workers entered the tank to observe the situation of the
tank, they fell unconscious due to the effects of toxic gas, Karim said.
They were rescued and admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital
(CMCH) around 11:30 pm,CMCH Police Outpost Sub Inspector Alauddin Talukdar
told BSS.
The attending doctors declared them dead soon after the admission, he
added. “Doctors said they were suffocated by ammonia gas causing their
death,” said Alauddin.
