Macao’s communication sector revenue drops in 2017
MACAO, Oct. 21 (BSS/Xinhua) — Macao’s communication business revenue totaled
7.16 billion patacas (about 887 million U.S. dollars) in 2017, down by 9.7
percent year-on-year, the special administrative region’s statistic service
said here on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the sector recorded an expenditure of 4.89 billion patacas
(about 606 million U.S. dollars), down by 9.4 percent year-on-year, the
latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated.
Gross surplus (2.36 billion patacas or 292 million U.S. dollars) and gross
value added (3.32 billion patacas or 411 million U.S. dollars) of the
communication sector registered year-on-year growth of 0.6 percent and 2.4
percent respectively.
The number of operating establishments in the communication sector
increased year-on-year by 7 to 47, with 2,556 persons engaged, up by 2.5
percent.
