Menon for promoting responsible tourism

DHAKA, Dec 19, 2017 (BSS) – Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon today urged all stakeholders to aware people about responsible tourism for ensuring sustainability of the country’s tourist places especially nature sensitive spots like Saint Martin’s Island, Ratargul and Bisanakandi.

“Along with promote tourism, we have to aware people about responsible tourism for making our tourism spots sustainable,” he said while exchanging views with different transport owners and other tourism service providers at Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) here.

The minister urged the long-distance transport owners to run visual promo on responsible tourism at their vehicles while operating them to different tourist spots like Cox’s Bazar, Hill Tracks, Khulna, Sylhet and Bogura.

The minister said the government is relentlessly working to facilitate tourism and as a result more than one crore domestic tourists travelled across the country last year.

Menon urged the private sector to make more investment in the leisure sector along with the government for providing quality tourism service to the people.

The bus company owners agreed to screen visual promo at their vehicles as well as their own stops over restaurants.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Ghulam Farooq, BTB CEO Dr M Nasir Uddin and Director Nikhil Chandra Roy also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, a visual promo on responsible tourism was screened.
