BNP leader Khasru sent to jail
CHATTOGRAM, Oct 21, 2018 (BSS) – A court here today sent BNP Standing
Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury to jail after rejecting his
bail petition in a case filed under the ICT Act.
Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha passed the
order after Khasru surrendered before the court as his anticipatory bail
granted by the High Court expired today, said Public Prosecutor (PP) Md
Fakhruddin Chowdhury.
Earlier, the court fixed October 21 for hearing following Khasru’s
surrender to the court on October 7.
Jakaria Dastagir, acting general secretary of Chattogram city unit of
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), filed the case under sections 57 (2) of ICT
Act and 15 (3) of the Special Powers Act with Kotwali thana on August 5
against Khasru after a phone conversation allegedly between him and a BNP
activist was leaked.
