Oikyafront’s 7-point demand unacceptable: Ershad

DHAKA, Oct 20, 2018 (BSS) – Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad today said as per the constitution, it is not possible to accept the seven-point demand raised by the newly-floated Jatiya Oikyafront.

“The polls-time government has to be formed with the parties having representation in the current parliament. We too want a free and fair election and we are ready to contest in 300 parliamentary seats under the alliance,” he told the grand rally of United National Alliance at Suhrawardy Udyan this noon.

Leader of the opposition in the parliament and Jatiya Party’s senior co-chairman Begum Rowshan Ershad, party co-chairman GM Qader, secretary general ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader, presidium member Syed Abu Hossain Babla, Salma Islam and SM Foysal Chishti and Fokhrul Imam, addressed the rally, among others.

Ershad announced an 18-point election manifesto at the rally, asking the leaders and activists of his party to get ready to take part in the upcoming national polls.

“We will soon form parliamentary board as per our campaign for national polls. We would nominate candidates based on eligibility, not considering any posters or banners,” he said.

Jatiya Party’s senior co-chairman Begum Rowshan Ershad recalled the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying, “He (Bangabandhu) liberated the country and Jatiya Party is working to reach the benefit of liberation to the people.”
