DHAKA, Oct 19, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh Awami League general secretary
Obaidul Quader today said deceased rock singer Ayub Bacchu believed in the
spirit of War of Liberation and he used to start all his concerts by playing
national anthem on guitar.
Quader, also Road, Transport and Bridges Minister, said these while talking
to newsmen at Central Shaheed Minar, where he and his party colleagues paid
tribute to the late singer by placing wreath at his coffin.
“He took the band song of Bangladesh to high level. Ayub Bacchu was very
active against drugs and violence against women. His sudden demise is a big
loss for the country and its cultural arena,” Quader added.
Awami League office secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Jubo League chairman
Omar Faruk Chowdhury and Dhaka city (south) Awami League general secretary
Shahe Alam Murad were present on the occasion, among others.
The LRB band founder breathed his last yesterday morning following a
cardiac arrest at his Moghbazar residence at the age of 56 leaving behind
wife, a son and a daughter alongside a huge number of relatives, disciples
and admirers to mourn his death.
LRB sources said as the prominent singer fell sick, he was rushed to
city’s Square Hospital around 9 am yesterday where the on-duty doctors
declared him dead.
