People pay tribute to Ayub Bacchu at Shaheed Minar

DHAKA, Oct 19, 2018 (BSS) – People from all strata, including his disciples, music lovers and admires, had their last glimpses of the popular rock star Ayub Bacchu and paid their tributes to him at Central Shaheed Minar in the capital today.

Sammilita Sangskritik Jote organized the tribute paying programme at the Shaheed Minar, where body of the deceased was kept from 10 am to 12.30pm.

The long line of people including ministers, political leaders and cultural activists reached Chankharpul area from Shaheed Minar and paid their last respect by placing wreaths at singer’s coffin.

Bangladesh Awami League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Mohila Awami League, Swecchasebok League, BNP, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-Jasad, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, Workers’ Party, Gonosonghoti Andolon, RAB, Dhaka University and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote paid respect to the late singer on the occasion.

A good number of singers including Syed Abdul Hadi, Fakir Alamgir, Shafin Ahmed, Nakib Khan, Kumar Biswajit, Tapan Chowdhury, Manam Ahmed, Fuad Naser Babu, Prince Mahmud, Hasan Abidur Reza Jewel, Shafik Tuheen and Shuvo also turned up to have their last glimpses of Bacchu.

Later, his body was taken to the National Eidgah, where his first namaz-e-janaza was held after Jumma prayers. After that his body was taken to the premises of his Moghbazar studio AB Kitchen, where his fans, family and colleagues paid last respect to him.

His second namaz-e-janaza was held in front of Moghbazar Qazi Office Goli Mosque around 3pm.

After that his body was taken to Channel i office, where his third namaz-e-janaza was held. The rock icon of the country will be buried at the family graveyard at his ancestral home in Chattogram.

The LRB band founder breathed his yesterday morning following a cardiac arrest at his Moghbazar residence at the age of 56 leaving behind wife, a son and a daughter alongside a huge number of relatives, disciples and admirers to mourn his death.

LRB sources said as the prominent singer fell sick, he was rushed to Square Hospital around 9 am yesterday where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Bacchu was born in Chattogram town’s Firingi Bazar on August 16 in 1962. He was debuted in music field in 1978 joining the music band ‘Feelings’.

A total of 12 band albums and 16 sole albums of songs were released until his demise.
