Durga Puja ends in Ctg with immersion of idols

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 19, 2018 (BSS) – Idols of Goddess Durga were immersed peacefully in the city and district today after a five-day colorful and joyous Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community.

Immersions were held in city’s Patenga and Khalurghat sea beach areas in the afternoon with presence of a large number of people of the community.

Earlier, hundreds of Hindu devotees attired in their best dresses thronged in different puja mandaps, including J M Sen Hall and Chatteshary Temple, in the city since morning to bid farewell to Goddess Durga and seek blessings.

They uttered ‘Shuva Bijoya’ and exchanged greetings with one another.

This year, as many as 255 puja mandaps were erected in the city and 1462 in 15 upazilas of the district, police said.
