Golam Mostafa Ahmed MP dies

Dhaka, Dec 19, 2017 (BSS) – Golam Mostafa Ahmed, MP of Gaibandha constituency-1, succumbed to his injuries at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here this morning at the age of 76.

He breathed his last around 8:30 am, CMH sources said.

Golam Mostafa left behind a son, two daughters, host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

On November 18, Golam Mostafa was seriously injured in a road accident in Natiapara area on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Delduar upazila of Tangail while he along with his two associates was traveling to Dhaka riding on a microbus.

He was first taken to Mirzapur Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Tangail General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the CMH where he succumbed to his injuries today.

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, deputy speaker Fazle Rabbi, LGRD and Cooperative Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain and chief whip ASM Feroz, MP, expressed their profound shock at the death of the lawmaker.

In a condolence message, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin said Golam Mostafa was a politician who believed in the spirit of the country’s Liberation War and played an important role in social welfare.

She also prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Golam Mostafa was elected MP on March 22 this year after the death of former MP Manzurul Islam Liton.
