Jabbar for avoiding duality of development projects

DHAKA, Oct 18, 2018 (BSS) – Posts, Telecommunications and Information
Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today urged people concerned to avoid
duality of development projects to save money of the state.

“It is not always possible to avoid duality in many cases while
implementing development projects. We can see instances of delay and waste of
money in development projects for not verifying duality of development
projects of different levels. But now, we can easily avoid duality by
applying digital technology appropriately,” he said.

The minister came up with the observations while inaugurating a pilot
project titled “Avoiding Duality of Development Projects” in Faridpur upazila
of Pabna through video conference from his ICT Division office in capital’s
Agargaon area.

Organized by Access to Information (a2i) project, the function was
attended by secretary in-charge of ICT Division ABM Arshad Hossain and a2i
project director Md Mostafizur Rahman, among others.

“Bangladesh is much ahead than other countries in different indexes. Many
countries are now investing in Bangladesh. Such progress was possible for
different effective initiatives taken, implemented by the present government
and because of empowerment of people,” Jabbar added.

The officials in the function said from now on, the software, which will
be used in floating proposals of new projects in any Upazila of the country,
will automatically verify whether the project has any duality with any other
old projects.

Apart from curbing corruption, it will play a major role in proficient
database management in 492 upazilas and increasing efficiency in
administrative management.
