Woodcutter dies after falling from tree in Rangpur
RANGPUR, Oct 17, 2018 (BSS) – A professional woodcutter was killed after
falling from a tree in village Zanki Dhaperhat of Saddyapuskorini union in
Sadar Kotwali Thana of the district today, police said.
“The deceased was identified as Rasel Mian, 25, son of Tayeb Ali of
village Nasirabad in nearby Mithapukur upazila,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) of
Sadar Kotwali Thana Azizul Islam Aziz told BSS this evening.
Woodcutter Rasel was hired by local timber trader Suman Mian of Zanki
Dhaperhat village to cut a tree in the village.
“Rasel climbed up in the tree and tied himself with ropes for safety as
he does all the time. But, he fell down on the earth while cutting branches
of the tree after the rope was torn and died on the spot,” the OC said.
“After completing necessary formalities, we handed over the body to his
relatives this afternoon,” the OC added.
