BOAT RACE-KHULNA
Traditional boat race in Khulna on Oct 20
KHULNA, Oct 17, 2018 (BSS) – The 13th traditional annual boat race,
popularly known as “Nouka Baich”, will be held on October 20 at the Rupsha
River in Khulna.
In this regard, a press conference was held today at Khulna Club where
Chief of Grameenphone in Khulna Circle Md Awlad Hossain, its Marketing Head
(Khulna) Abul Hasnat, Chief Advisor of Nagar Samajik O Sangkskritic Kendra
(NSSK) Sheikh Ashraf Uz Zaman, its President Molla Maruf Rashid and General
Secretary Moniruzzaman Rahim and other officials of both entities were
present.
Media Relations Specialist of Grameenphone Tanveer Ahmed conducted the
conference.
Khulna Nagar Samajik O Sangskritic Kendra (NSSK) organised the event in
cooperation with Khulna District Administration with a view to promote the
Bengali culture and heritage, said Md Awlad Hossain.
The race will be sponsored by telecommunications operator Grameenphone
where 34 teams in three groups will participate, he said.
The boat race will begin around 2 pm from Custom Ghat point (Kheya ghat)
and will end at the Khanjahan Ali Bridge (Rupsha Bridge) point followed by
prize distribution ceremony.
“Mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) is expected to distribute the
prizes among the winners in the bank of Rupsha Bridge area,” the grameenphone
chief of Khulna said, adding that a colourful procession will also begin at
10am on October 20 from Shibbari intersection and to end at Shaheed Hadis
park in the city.
