DHAKA, OCT 17, 2018, (BSS) – Awami League Presidium Member and Spokesperson of 14-party alliance Mohammed Nasim today urged people of the country not to get confused with the campaign of the BNP-Jamaat alliance saying they are trying to foil the next general election.

“People of the country will not get confused with their campaign and the election will be held in due time in line with the constitution of the country.”

Nasim, also Health and Family Welfare Minister, said this while talking to journalists at a press briefing after a meeting of 14-party alliance held at the party president’s political office in Dhanmondi with Jatiya Party’s (JP) General Secretary Sheikh Shahidul Islam in the chair.

“We want participatory election. The election will be held in due time according to the constitution headed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. But BNP-Jamaat, the proved enemies of democracy, has come to the field to thwart the upcoming election,” Nasim said.

“The alliance is now demanding seven-point charters, but these demands are unconstitutional and illogical, so there is no reason to fulfil the demands,” he said, adding though BNP formed the coalition with high ambition, now they are hatching conspiracy against the next election.”

“Once Dr Kamal told that the 1/11 government will be able to rule the country for indefinite period,” Nasim said, adding people of the country had witnessed the stand of Dr Kamal during the past interim government.

Then Barrister Moinul Hossain advised the then government to file graft cases against Begum Khaleda Zia, but now he is one of close associates of BNP. So these types of personality who do not have any ideology will not be able to confuse people.

Welcoming BNP-Jamaat alliance to participate in the election, he said 14-party alliance thinks that people will defeat the coalition by giving vote in favour boat.

Nasim also urged the government to take legal action against Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury for derogatory comments against Chief of Army Staff Aziz Ahmed. Replying to a question, Nasim said Election Commissioner is a constitutional post and Mahbub Talukder has broken his oath by talking to media about what was happening inside the Election Commission secretariat.
Nasim informed journalists that 14-party alliance will organise a public rally in Jessore on October 26.

Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, Bangladesh Jasod’s President Sharif Nurul Ambia, Communist Kendra’s President Dr. Wajedul Islam Khan, politburo member of Workers Party Kamrul Ahsan, AL deputy office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua and Gono Azadi League leader SK Sikdar were present at the meeting.
