All-round Soumya gives Khulna Div lead in NCL
DHAKA, Oct 17, 2018 (BSS)- An all-round performance came from Soumya Sarkar
saw Khulna Division took 170-run lead over Rangpur Division after the end of
third day’s play of the tier-1 third round match of four-day National Cricket
League (NCL) held on Wednesday at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Trailing by a narrow 11 runs, Khulna Division stared their second innings
on the third day and scored 181 for 5 at stumps with Tushar Imran was the
only unbeaten batsman on the crease with 63 at the stumps were drawn for the
day.
The left handed batsman Soumya Sarkar, after his fierce bowling display in
the first innings, composed a superb knock of 71 after Khulna lost both their
openers early in the innings.
Mahmudul Hasan of Rangpur took two Khulna’s wickets conceding 18 runs.
Earlier, Rangpur Division resumed their first innings on the third day with
overnight score at 200 for 4 and finally dismissed at 315 in reply to a
Khulna Division’s first innings total of 304.
Soumya Sarkar finished his spells with an impressive figure of 5 for 51
runs. He was well supported by Al Amin who claimed four for 67.
