Malaysian national held with 7kg gold at Shahjalal airport
DHAKA, Oct 15, 2018 (BSS) – Customs officials arrested a citizen of
Malaysia along with seven kilogram of gold worth about Taka 3.5 crore from
Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
“We arrested a China born Malaysian national along with seven pieces of
gold weighing seven kilograms worth about Taka 3.5 crore from 11 no boarding
bridge area of the airport around 10 pm on Sunday,” deputy commissioner
Othelo Chowdhury of Dhaka Customs House told BSS today.
A flight of Malindo Air landed at Dhaka airport around 10 pm on Sunday.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestee confessed his link to
gold smuggling, the official also said.
A case was filed under Customs Act and Special Powers Act with
Bimanbandar Police Station to this end.
