Resistance from grassroots against militancy, drug stressed

RANGPUR, Oct 12, 2018 (BSS) – Public representatives at a meeting here
last night stressed on creating stiff resistance by the grassroots level
people against militancy, drug and terrorism to ensure sustainable peace in
the society.

They came up with the opinion at the meeting arranged by Sadar Kotwali
Thana at Kharuabadha Bilateral High School auditorium in Mominpur union of
Sadar upazila to make the people aware of these social curses and improve law
and order situation.

Chairman of Rangpur Sadar Upazila Nasima Zaman Boby attended the
meeting as the chief guest with Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Sadar
Kotwali Thana Habibur Rahman in the chair.

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Kotwali Thana Azizul Islam Aziz, Convener of
Rangpur city Jubo Mohila League Shahnaz Beauty and former Chairman of
Mominpur union Mahbub Alam addressed as special guests.

The chief guest announced to free Mominpur union from drugs and other
social curses within a shorter period through launching an effective social
movement, involving the common people, students, youths, men and women.

“The friendly relations between common people and police should be
cemented further on the basis of mutual trust and confidence to eliminate
terrorism, militancy, drug abuse and child marriage to establish enduring
peace in the society,” she added.

A large number of students, teachers, men, women, farmers, civil society
members, religious leaders, socio-cultural activists, union parisahd members
and local elite were present.

Local people from different cross sections of the society discussed
various problems, including drug abuse, prevailing in the area, and forwarded
suggestions to resolve those.
