Grenade attack verdict has established rule of law: Menon

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2018 (BSS) – Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon today said the 21 August grenade attack cases verdict has established the rule of law in the country.

He said the BNP presumed that none would face trial after committing even such a gruesome killing that would result in deaths of hundreds and make several thousand others disabled.

The minister as the chief guest was addressing a cheque-distribution programme, organized by the Labour Welfare Foundation at Diploma Engineer Institute in Kakrail area.

Terming the grenade attack verdict as historic one Menon, also the president of Bangladesher Workers party, said the BNP hoped that they will be able to make its design of killing the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina smoothly but the perpetrators would be spared.

The verdict of the cases, Menon said, proved that the perpetrators of the grenade attack had to face trial.

Chaired by Building Construction Labour Union President Rabiul Islam, the programme was also attended, among others, by Bangladesh Trade Union Center General Secretary Dr Wazedul Islam, Bhorosa Housing Chairman M Shahed Ali and Bangladesher Workers party central member Dipankar Dipu.
