Muhith meets Indonesian Finance Minister

BALI (INDONESIA), Oct 11, 2018 (BSS) – Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith today held a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Mulyani Indrawati on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) 2018 Annual Meetings here in Bali.

“This was a very good meeting,” Muhith said while briefing reporters at the Hotel Westin this afternoon.

He said they discussed on how to enhance the bilateral ties between the two countries alongside boosting the bilateral trade volume from the existing level of $1.5 billion.

Muhith said since the Indonesian Finance Minister was formerly the managing director of the World Bank and she also holds importance to the World Bank, he had requested Mulyani to advocate for Bangladesh before the World Bank in getting more finance in the coming day’s especially getting more support for the Rohingyas.

Alternate Executive Director of Bangladesh to the World Bank M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Economic Relations Division (ERD) Senior Secretary Kazi Shofiqul Azam, Secretary in Charge of the Finance Division Abdur Rouf Talukder and Bangladesh Ambassador to Indonesia Major General Azmal Kabir were present, among others, at the briefing.

Meanwhile, the Finance Minister will take part at the Bank Fund Plenary Session tomorrow alongside meeting IMF deputy managing director Mitsuhiro Furusawa.
