Maritime ports asked to hoist signal no-4

DHAKA, Oct 11, 2018 (BSS) – The severe cyclone storm ‘TITLI’, with a core
of hurricane wind, moved North-Northwestwards and crossed Odisha-Andhra coast
of India near Gopalpur in the morning and then it weakened into a ‘severe
cyclonic storm’.

It is now lies over coastal Odisha of India and likely to move north-
northwestwards further inland and weaken gradually within next 2-3 hours,
said a Met office release today.

Under the influence of the severe cyclonic storm and steep pressure
gradient persists over North Bay, deep convection is taking places over North
Bay and coastal area of Bangladesh. Maximum sustained wind speed within 74 km
of the cyclonic centre is about 120 km per hour rising to 140 kph.

The sea will remain rough near the system centre, according to a special
bulletin of Met office issued in the morning.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been
advised to hoist local warning signal no-4. All fishing boats and trawlers
over North Bay and deep sea are advised to remain in safe place till further
notice.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by
temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over
Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at many places
over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to very
heavy falls.

Day and night temperature may fall by 1-2 degree celsius over the country.
The country’s highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded by 32.4 degree
celsius at Jashore while the lowest temperature today was recorded by 20.3
degree Celsius in Tetulia.

The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am was recorded by 77
millimetres (mm) at Khepupara.
