RAJSHAHI, Oct 10, 2018 (BSS) – Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton today demanded death penalty for BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in the August 21 grenade attack cases.

“I think, the government will seek capital punishment for BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman in the grisly grenade attack cases,” he said in his immediate reaction to the verdict of the August 21 grenade attack cases.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the verdict that awarded Tarique life imprisonment, Liton said Tarique was the mastermind of the horrible attack.

“I am very hopeful that the government will try to bring the fugitive convicts, including Tarique Rahman and his cohorts Harris Chowdhury and Mofazzal Hossain Kaikobad, to justice,” the RCC mayor said.

After hearing the news of the verdict today, Rajshahi city unit of Bangladesh Awami League, led by its president Khairuzzaman Liton, brought out an agitation procession from its office premises.

City unit vice-president Shahadat Hossain, its general secretary Dablu Sarker, joint-secretary Naimul Haque and organising secretary Aslam Sarker, among others, joined the procession.
