No talks with BNP on elections: Shahjahan

RANGPUR, Oct 10, 2018 (BSS) -Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM
Shahjahan Kamal has said question does not arise at this moment to sit with
BNP on the election issue as the Election Commission will hold the next
general elections timely.

“BNP wants to bring military regime instead of taking part in the next
polls and does not want to participate in the election without Jamaat,” he
said at a discussion held in Begum Rokeya auditorium in Mithapukur Upazila
headquarters here on Tuesday night as the chief guest.

Mithapukur Upazila administration organised the discussion followed by a
colourful cultural function to celebrate the attainment of 100 percent
electricity coverage in the upazila.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Public
Administration HN Ashiqur Rahman presided over the function.

Vice-chairman of Rangpur unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Rehana
Ashiqur Rahman addressed the event as the special guest.

Ashiqur Rahman congratulated the people of Mithapukur upazila for attaining
100 percent electricity coverage by bringing every house under power supply
network in the area.

“Let this electricity further enlighten minds of the people of Mithapukur
side by side with lighting their houses,” he said adding that electricity
would not reach the upazila if Bangladesh was not liberated from Pakistan.

Media personality and AL leader Rashek Rahman, chairman of Rangpur District
Council Advocate Chhafia Khanom, senior general manger of Rangpur Palli
Bidyut Samity-1 Nurur Rahman, among others, spoke.

Deputy commissioner of Rangpur Enamul Habib and high officials were present
on the occasion.
