Role of youths vital for peace, harmony, say academics
RAJSHAHI, Oct 10, 2018 (BSS)-Academics and development activists at a
training workshop here on Tuesday opined that the role of youths and the
students in particular is very important for ensuring peace and communal
harmony in society.
Ensuring leadership training for the youths has become an urgent need for
transforming them into worthy citizens. Competent youths can play a pivotal
role in ending domestic violence side by side with creating mass-awareness
about showing respect to aged parents.
They made this observation while addressing the daylong training workshop
on law and rights at Rajshahi Court Degree College conference hall.
Bangladesh Resource Centre for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) and Youth
Action for Social Change (YASC) jointly organized the awareness workshop in
association with the college authorities. More than 300 students joined the
programme.
Deputy commissioner (detective branch) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Abu
Ahmmad Al Mamun addressed the programme as focal person with principal of the
college Prof AKM Kamruzzaman in the chair.

social peace and harmony.
YASC President Shamiul Alim Shaon and its General Secretary Nazmul Islam,
vice principal of the college Rabiul Islam and teachers Fahmida Khatun and
Akhteruzzaman also spoke.
Al Mamun said the role of competent youths is very important for creating
mass-awareness together with forging a social resistance against all sorts of
social crimes including extremism and militancy.
He said the students and other youths should be groomed as social watchdog
through imparting them with skill development training so that they can
contribute to society and the nation positively.
