Int’l Conference on Business and Economics begins at DU

DHAKA, Oct 9, 2018 (BSS) – Faculty of Business Studies (FBS) of Dhaka
University (DU) today organised a two-day International Conference on
Business and Economics with a view to enhancing the awareness of the
researchers around the world for making better and innovative research work.

The conference with the theme “Shaping the future through inclusive
development” brought together a group of high-level stakeholders including
representatives of government, private sector, development sector, academic
and researchers from different countries.

Around 75 academicians and researchers from the United States, Canada,
Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and India will present their
research findings in the conference while the academicians and researchers
from Bangladesh and those countries are participating.

The third International Conference on Business and Economics began today
at DU Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium while Vice-
Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated it as the chief
guest.

Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of DU Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam
presided over the inaugural function while VC of the United States
International University, Kenya Prof Dr Paul Tiyambe Zeleza and VC of Al Ain
University of Science and Technology, UAE Prof Dr Ghaleb A El Refae addressed
as special guests.

Prof Partha S Ghosh of Tufts University, USA delivered key-note speech and
Co-Chair of Conference Organizing Committee Prof M Sadiqul Islam gave vote of
thanks.

Prof Akhtaruzzaman urged the professionals, academicians and researchers
to play an effective role for building inclusive society through overall
development in the country.

“We have to produce skilled human resources for ensuring sustainable
development, poverty reduction, quality education and sustainable
industrialization, industrialization,” the VC added.

He stressed the need for undertaking joint collaborative academic and
research programmes among the University of Dhaka and other renowned
universities around the world for facing various global challenges.

He hoped that this conference would create a common platform in this
regard.

A total of 16 parallel sessions will take place in the two-day
international conference while more than 60 research papers will be
presented.
