10,000 doctors to be appointed before election: Nasim

RAJSHAHI, Oct 9, 2018 (BSS)- Health and Family Welfare Minister Muhammad
Nasim has said 10,000 doctors will be given appointment before the
forthcoming national election.

“During last couple of years, 10,000 to 15,000 nurses were given
appointment,” he said while addressing a view-sharing meeting with doctors
and others concerned of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) at its
conference hall today as the chief guest.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed
Palak, Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Akter Jahan,
MP, RMCH Director Brig Gen Jamilur Rahman and Vice-chancellor (VC) of
Rajshahi Medical University Prof Masum Habib also spoke.

Nasim told the meeting that there 16,000 community clinics and more than
10,000 model clinics in the country to ensure healthcare services to the
public in general. “We have ensured healthcare services to 10 lakh Rohingya
people while their kids were administered polio and other need-based
vaccines,” he added.

He urged doctors and others concerned to perform their duties with utmost
sincerity and honesty to reach healthcare services at the doorstep of rural
and marginalised people.

Rural and marginalised people are totally dependent on public hospitals for
emergency health problems and that is why the present government is committed
to reach healthcare services to them.

The Health Minister said the government, under the dynamic leadership of
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is sincerely working to ensure qualitative and
standard healthcare services to all.
