Stocks maintain upward trend

DHAKA, Oct 9, 2018 (BSS) – Stocks maintained upward trends on Tuesday as the major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges rose up due to higher activities of some large cap securities despite lower transactions.

The broader DSEX of DSE closed the day with 14.86 points up at 5,455.81. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 19.24 points up at 1,928.94 and with 13.95 points up at 1,278.03.

The day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 801.22 crore from Monday’s Taka 801.43 crore and the daily trade also fell to 16.03 crore share from 18.22 crore share of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 338 securities, prices of 101 securities closed higher against 195 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Meghna Chemical, VFSTDL, ACI, United Insurance and ACFL. The major losing issues were Shyampur Sugar, Dulamia Cotton, Legacy Foot, BD Auto Cars and SAVAREFR.

KPCL topped the turnover list followed by UPGDCL, Olympic, Summit Power and BBS Cables. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trends with its major CASPI 66.69 points up at 16,841.40. At CSE, 242 issues were traded. Of those, 84 closed higher and 136 closed lower.
