BNP leader Aslam’s wife lands in Jail in graft case

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 08, 2018 (BSS)-A Chattogram court today turned down bail prayer of Jamila Naznin Mawla, wife of BNP Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury, in a graft case and sent her to jail.

Akbar Hossain Mridha, a special judge of Chattogram metropolitan session court, passed the order when Aslam’s wife surrendered before the court, said ACC Public Prosecutor Sanwar Hossain Lavlo.

Earlier, a Chattogram court granted her bail the until submission of charge sheet and the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) submitted the charge sheet for embezzling Tk 135 crore of South East Bank, Halishahor branch in the graft case today.

ACC filed the case on December 26, 2016 for misappropriating Tk 135 crore from the South East Bank through her company named Rising Steel Limited between 2008 and 2012.

ACC submitted the charge sheet implicating BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury, his two brothers and wife but excluding names of two officials of South East Bank from the charge sheet.
