Philippines beat Laos 3-1 to move semi-final in Bangabandhu Int’l Gold Cup

SYLHET, Oct 3, 2018 (BSS) – Philippines moved semi-final of the 5th edition of Bangabandhu International Gold Cup Football beating Laos by 3-1 goals in their group B opening match held on Wednesday at Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet.

The day’s defeat of Laos meant, both Philippines and Bangladesh confirmed their last four spot after winning their respective group opening matches against Laos which made exit from the championship race after losing both their group matches.

In the day’s match, Jovin Bedic put Philippines ahead in the 44th minute from a penalty while Javier Gayoso doubled the lead scoring the second goal for Philippines in the 53rd minute of the match.

Misagh Bahadoran scored the third goal for Philippines in the 82nd minute while Phithack Kongmathilath pulled one back for Laos from a penalty in the 89th minute of the match.

Philippines will meet Bangladesh in the battle of group supremacy in their last group match against host Bangladesh scheduled to be held on October 5 at the same venue.

Earlier, Laos lost to Bangladesh by a solitary goal in their group opening match.
