DHAKA, Dec 12, 2017 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said the gazette notification on the discipline rules of the lower court judges did not hamper the power of the Supreme Court (SC).

“The judicial discipline rules did not hamper the power of the Supreme Court rather it has increased its power a little bit,” he told while replying to a query at his secretariat office today.

“The people are criticizing the gazette notification on the discipline of the lower court judges after failing to understand it or not going through it,” he said, adding, “The image of the apex court has rather increased with the gazette notification.”

He also said, “We will not allow anymore playing with the constitution which was initiated since 1976 and continued till 1996.”

Criticizing the recent remarks on the gazette notification made by BNP leaders, the minister said, “Do they understand the discipline rules? The gazette notification was published with consultation of the apex court.”

The 24-page gazette notification on the Bangladesh Judicial Service (Discipline) Rules, 2017 was published on Monday.
