14-party to resist BNP-Jamaat plot to spoil next polls: Nasim

DHAKA, Dec 12, 2017 (BSS) – The Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim said yesterday the 14-party leaders and activists will resist the BNP-Jamaat clique’s plot to thwart the next national polls.

“The BNP-Jamaat alliance led by Begum Khaleda Zia is out to destabilise the country to prevent the next general polls. But, the 14-party leaders and activists are ready to foil such evil attempts,” he said at a press conference held at the AL president’s political office here after completion of 14-party meeting.

Nasim, also coordinator of the 14-party, said, “The next election will be held under the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Election Commission (EC) will conduct it as there are no option left in line with the constitution.”

“The next election is to protect the spirit of the Liberation War as well as independence and the 14-party alliance will take part in the polls in unison,” he said.

Speaking about siphoned off money by Zia family, he also said, “Zia family has made the epic poem of corruption through Hawa Bhaban and laundered the money in different countries including Saudi Arabia. So, the people have every right to know how they amassed the money.”

Taking part in the discussion, Information Minister and President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, an ally of the 14-party, Hasanul Haq Inu said, “It is necessary to let people know about the siphoned off money and killing of people in arson attacks by Khaleda Zia after conducting through investigation into the matters.”

He also called upon all the pro-liberation and democratic forces to remain alert as the BNP-Jamaat alliance once again has been trying to thwart the next election.

Among others, General Secretary of Sammobadi Dal Dilip Barua, Secretary General of Jatiya Party (Manju) Sheikh Shahidul Islam, President of Tarikat Federation Nazibul Basher Maijbhandaree, MP, General Secretary of Ganotantri Party Dr Shahadat Hossain, JSD one faction President Sharif Nurul Ambia, AL Organising Secretaries Ahmed Hossain and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil were present at the meeting.
