President asks students to pursue study to face global competitiveness

MITHAMAIN, Kishoreganj, Sept 27, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today asked the students to pursue study sincerely to face the global competitiveness.

“Acquiring of knowledge is your only duty and know the world with keen interest to survive in the competitive global village,” he told the golden jubilee function of Hazi Tayeb Uddin High School at Mithmain here this evening.

Giving an example of competitive job markets in the country, he said, the students should learn more while the government should create more employment opportunities. President Hamid urged the teachers to gather world-standard knowledge so that the learners can get more updated knowledge and information from their teachers.

“Teachers must read more and more. They have to know more to enlighten the students,” he added.

He hoped that the country is proceeding towards tremendous development and if it continues it would be possible to reach a developed country within 2041 in line with the charter of vision of the present government.

Abdul Hamid, who contributed to set up the school on January 1, 1968 while he was the vice-president (VP) of Guru Doyal College, recalled his student life’s memory and mentioned the incident behind the establishing school in an emotion chocked voice.

“Considering all the circumstances, I deeply felt that there was no alternative to establish a school in the remote Mithamain area,” the President mentioned. Justice Md Amir Hossain of High Court division, Engineer Rejwan Ahammad Taufiq, MP, President’s secretary Sampad Barua, President’s military secretary Major General Sarwar Hossain, President’s press secretary Md Joynal Abedin, Kishoreganj Zila Parishad chairman Advocate Md. Zillur Rahman, Mithamian Sadar Upazila Parishad chairman Abdus Shaheed Bhuiyan, former chairman of Mithamian Union Parishad Alhajj Asia Alam, Mithamian Sadar Union Parishad chairman Sharif Kamal Advocate and school headmaster Suvash Chandra Boisnab, among others, also present on the occasion.

Chairman of school managing committee Principal Mohammad Abdul Haque presided over the function, followed by a cultural programme.

Earlier the President, who is on a five-day tour in different upazilas of his home district, today witnessed some development projects including the progress of road construction at Islampur and enjoyed boat-race at Shantipur here.

He also visited 50-Bed Upazila Health Complex, Jamindar Bari (old Kachari Bari), Muktijouddha office and Union Parishad office.

President Hamid also exchanged views with a cross section of people and enquired about their wellbeing.
