Two Bangladeshis killed in BSF firing

RAJSHAHI, Dec 10, 2017 (BSS)- Two Bangladeshi nationals were reportedly killed when Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire targeting them at Diar Manik Chalk frontier under Godagari upazila in the district early today.

The deceased were identified as Abu Ashraf, 29, son of Jalal Uddin, and Mishu Shaikh, 27, son of Md Alauddin. Both were the residents of Char Bhubanpara area under the same upazila.

Chairman of Char Ashariadaha Union Parishad Md Sanaullah said the BSF troops opened fire when a group of cattle traders were going to India through the border.

Abu and Shamir were hit by bullets and died on the spot, he said.

Quoting locals Hipzur Alam Munshi, officer-in-charge of Godagari police station, said the incident occurred around 1am.

Hearing news of the incident, Sector Commander of BGB Col Gazi Sazzad and Battalion Commander Lt Col Shamim Masud Al Iftekhar rushed to the area in the morning.

Battalion Commander Lt Col Shamim said they called BSF for holding a flag meeting today as the Indian border guards took away the bodies.
