ACC launches mass signature campaign to mark Anti-Corruption Day

DHAKA, Dec 10, 2017 (BSS) – Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday launched a mass signature campaign as Bangladesh joins the worldwide celebration of International Anti-Corruption Day with its theme being “Come, Get united against the corrupt”.

ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmud put his signature being the first signatory of a book opened to rally civic supports for the anti-graft campaign as he inaugurated the days’s celebrations releasing pigeons and festoons at its headquarters in the capital in the yesterday morning.

The signature campaign will continue until December 14, ACC officials said.

A civic grouping called Dhaka City Anti-Corruption Committee, Girls Guide, Boys Scout, Ansar and BNCC members took part in human chain staged as well by the ACC in front of Jatiya Press Club while it was joined by Mahmud, the ACC commissioners, officials and employees stationed in Dhaka and the commission’s panel lawyers.

Noted science fiction writer and scientist professor Dr Jafar Iqbal joined as the chief guest another discussion at Jatiya Natyashala auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy when he asked the young generation to be honest in their personal life to make Bangladesh a corruption free country.

He also suggested renaming of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as “Sunity Bikash Commission” or “Good Policy Flourishing Commission” at the function also joined by the ACC Chairman.

Human chains, discussions, documentary screening, and cultural programmes were arranged in the districts and upazilas across the country in observance of the day.
