Five women get ‘Joyeeta Award’ in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, Dec 10, 2017 (BSS)- Five women get ‘Joyeeta Award’ as recognition of attaining their success in different fields after overcoming difficulties and challenges in the city yesterday.

The awards were given to the successful women– Afroza Aziz, Rokhsana Mehbub Chopola, Anwara Khatun, Abu Hassan Poly and Kolpona Roy Bhowmik– in five different categories like economic, education and employment, successful mother, prevention of repression and social development sectors in a function.

District Administration and District Women Affairs Office jointly organised the function at conference hall of Divisional Human Resources Development Training Centre in observance of the Begum Rokeya Day- 2017.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Nasima Khatun addressed the function as chief guest with District Women Affairs Officer Shahanaz Begum in the chair. Social Worker Shahin Akter Rainy, local unit Chairman of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Begum Morjina Parveen and Assistant Director of Human Resources Development Centre Azgar Ali Khan also spoke.

The speakers said government has taken various initiatives to create women- friendly atmosphere in the country so that they can play an important role for country’s socioeconomic development.

Bangladesh has achieved tremendous success in women development and empowerment to become a model in the world. The womenfolk have proved their abilities, expertise and efficiency in every field of our national life.

The Joyeeta award will encourage women to face various challenges more confidently and become role models for the society.

Joyeeta Onneshone Bangladesh – an initiative introduced in 2009 by the government — has had a tremendous impact on the society.
