Sk Selim for strengthening hands of Sheikh Hasina to resist conspirators


DHAKA, Dec 4, 2017 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim today urged the party leaders and workers to work together to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for stopping anti-liberation forces’ attempt to come to power.

He came up with the call at a daylong programme marking the 78th birthday of Awami Jubo League’s founding chairman Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani at Kalabagan playground.

Awami League Advisory Council Members Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and Advocate Syed Rezaur Rahman, Jatiya Party Presidium Member Kazi Firoj Rashid, MP, Gono Forum General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Mantu, Awami League Joint General Secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, State Minister for Textiles and Jute Mirza Azam, Journalist Kamal Lohani, Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha, MP, Awami Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruq Chowdhury and General Secretary Md Harunur Rashid, among others, addressed the function.

Fazlul Haque Mani’s son Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, also lawmaker of Dhaka-10 constituency, chaired it.

Sheikh Selim, younger brother of Mani, said the perpetrators of the August 15 carnage had killed Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani before the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

They (perpetrators) knew that if Mani remained alive, he could organise the party to wage a strong protest against the assassination of the architect of independent Bangladesh Bangabandhu, Selim said.

Tofail Ahmed said Mani was a very efficient organizer and courageous human being.

“Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani used to remain steadfast towards achieving his goal. He used to remain uncompromising on the question of truth,” he said.

Kamal Lohani said Mani had an outstanding contribution to the Liberation War likewise he played an important role to turn the young generation into resources.

Earlier, Awami Jubo League placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi 32 marking the birth anniversary.

Different programmes were also organized at the Kalabagan playground including cultural function and reminiscence.
