1,338 people performed hajj in public fund

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 20, 2018 (BSS) – Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman today said the government sent 1,338 pilgrims for performing hajj with
public expenditure from 2014 under National Hajj and Umrah policy.

“The government started sending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for performing hajj with public expenditure in 2014,” he said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Selina Begum in the Jatiya Sangsad.

The minister said the cabinet approved the National Hajj and Urmah Policy and after that devoted Muslims began to perform hajj with government fund from 2014.

To this end the government sent 124 pilgrims for hajj with public expenditure in 2014, 266 Muslims in 2015, 288 pilgrims in 2016, 320 Muslim people in 2017 and 340 in 2018, he said.
