Strengthening union digital centres to enhance efficiency stressed

RAJSHAHI, Dec 4, 2017 (BSS) – Speakers at a function urged the entrepreneurs of the Union Digital Centers (UDCs) to put their level best efforts in making those more effective so that they can earn more through providing services to the grassroots people.

They were addressing the inaugural session of a three day-long skill development training workshop for the UDC entrepreneurs at Circuit House conference hall here today.

District administration organised the training in association with Access to Information (A2I) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office. Some 40 entrepreneurs from Paba, Tanore and Godagari Upazilas of the district are taking part in it.

Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif addressed the session as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Nasima Khatun in the chair.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md Shalahuddin and Upazila Nirbahi Officers Jakiul Islam and Anwar Sadat also spoke.

Pointing out the objectives, implementation strategy and status of the UDC activities, the speakers said the major objectives of the process are to provide people with all necessary services at their doorsteps, ensuring accountability and transparency towards establishing a knowledge-based society and good governance.

The grassroots people are getting their necessary information from the digital centres being operated in Union Parishad Complex.

Helal Mahmud Sharif said time and money of the people had been saved and the entrepreneurs earned money regularly. He urged the entrepreneurs to impart computer training to their respective youths for making them competent in ICT.
