Bangladesh aim to become champions in AFC: Choton

DHAKA, Sept 16, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh U-16 national women’s football team head coach Golam Robbani Choton said their main aim to become champions in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 Qualifiers that begins tomorrow (Saturday) at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.

He was speaking at a pre event press conference held today at conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Bhaban here.

“The Team’s preparation has been continuing in December last year keeping ahead of the tournament … the girls are ready and our aim to go Thailand as the champions team,” Chotn said.

Team skipper Maria Manda said “As we’ll play in our home ground so our aim will be to present a good football to the nation… there will be a also try to qualify to the team.”

BFF women’s wing committee’s chairman Mahfuza Akter Kiron said the team’s preparation is good. The team will play their first match against Bahrain and she hoped that girls would able to start the tournament campaign with a victory.

Bangladesh, placed in group A along with Vietnam, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Lebanon, will start their tournament campaign taking on Bahrain in their group opening match scheduled to be held on Monday (September 17).

The girls in red and green will play their group second match against Lebanon on September 19, meet UAE on September 21 and then take on Vietnam on September 23.

Besides, in the day’s first opening day’s fixture, UAE will face Vietnam at 11.30 am while Lebanon meet Bahrain at 15.30 pm.
