Gaibandha to celebrate recognition of historic 7th March speech

GAIBANDHA, Nov 23, 2017 (BSS) – With a view to spreading the information of the recognition and outstanding achievement of the historic 7th speech of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by the UNESCO, the district administration has taken a decision to celebrate the recognition in a befitting manner on November 25.

The district administration took the decision of celebration at a preparatory meeting held at collectorate building in the district town on November 19.

The programmes include Ananda Shovajatra, discussion and cultural function.

The programmes also feature holding essay writing, quiz and general knowledge competition among students at Independence Square of the district town.

Acting deputy commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman told the BSS that people from all walks of life including government officials, freedom fighters, political leaders, cultural activists, social workers, teachers, students and media men were requested to participate in the programmes.

The historic 7th March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been included in the Memory of World International Register, a list of world’s important documentary heritage maintained by UNESCO.

UNESCO formally recognised the historic 7th March speech of Bangabandhu as part of the world’s documentary heritage by the announcement of the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris in October.
