Bangladesh self-reliant in food production: minister

MANIKGANJ, Nov 22, 2017 (BSS) – Food Minister Advocate Md. Qamrul Islam, MP, today said the country has achieved self-sufficiency in food production under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

“Bangladesh is now no more a bottomless basket. We are implementing the mega Project like Padma Bridge with our own fund,” he said.

The minister said this as the chief guest while addressing a workshop on “Creating Awareness to Implement the Safe Food Law – 2013” held at the auditorium of Manikganj Zila Parishad.

He said Bangladesh is now the role model of development in the globe and world leaders are showing respect to Sheikh Hasina by giving awards to her.

Acting Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin presided over the function that was addressed, among others, by AM Naimur Rahman Durjoy, MP, Manikganj-1, Md. Mahfuzul Huq, Chairman of Bangladesh Safe Food Authority (BSFA), Dr. Iqbal Hossain, Member of the Safe Food Authority, Advocate Golam Mohiuddin, Chairman, Zila Parishad and Zakir Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police.

District level officials, lawyers, leaders of business community, local journalists and elite of the society participated in the workshop.

Earlier a colorful rally was brought out in the town.
